Yesterday evening I was at an event called Fantasy Night (in Italian only). Some local fantasy writers were having a panel discussion about all things fantasy.
At some point, one man was asked how he chose names for places and people in his book. This is a quick summary of his answer. “Well, I knew I wanted my fantasy worlds to have a Scandinavian flavour, so I went on Google Translate and set the languages from Italian into Swedish. Then I started typing in random words, such as dog, member of Parliament, and so on. Then I changed the output a bit and… here were all my names!”
So, we have just discovered a new use for the much talked about Google Translate 😉 Do you know any other ‘alternative’ uses?
